Improved runnability and cleaner pulp

Defoamers

Defoamers are used in chemical pulping processes. Controlling foam achieves higher process speed and cleaner pulp. Special defoamers are used in different process stages. In wood handling it can be beneficial to add oil based or water based defoamers; silicone emulsion defoamers are used in screening, washing and bleaching; EO/PO based defoamers may be used on the drying machine.

Silicone emulsion defoamers (silicone defoamers) are silicone compounds in waterborne emulsions. Silicones are emulsified for easier handling, faster spreading in the processes and in order to minimise the risk of deposit formation. These are heavy duty defoamers that are able to handle the tough chemical conditions in chemical pulping. Silicone defoamers control foam, relieving entrained air and lowering the surface tension of process liquors. This achieves improved operation in washing and dewatering stages and cleaner pulp. Silicone defoamers are normally used in sieving, washing and bleaching stages of chemical pulping processes.

  • Silicone - Used in more than you could ever imagine

Silicones have a positive effect on virtually every aspect of the paper industry. From pulp processing to paper finishing, label making, and paper recycling, silicones add value, improve productivity, and lessen the impact of paper-making operations on our environment.
